Rhymes with Australia

I snapped this beautiful Dahlia as I was walking through Mitre 10 today with my new iphone. I've gotta say, it takes lovely photos. Handy for when I don't have my 'real' camera with me.

Rotorua Tulips

There is something magical about being in Rotorua for a conference.

Gone but not forgotten

I went for a walk through the local cemetery. This cemetery has not been used for decades, however it is lovely to see that people still bring flowers.

Pukeko

Each morning I walked from my hotel to the convention centre past a family of Pukekos, they are amazing looking birds with such big feet.

ULearn 11 - Rotorua Museum

Ulearn11 has come and gone. This year it was in Rotorua as the venue we normally use is in the red zone of Christchurch. The conference was a huge success as always and everyone I spoke to went away buzzing. My job is to shoot video for the duration of the conference. I captured 35 videos over four days. You will be able to see them on the EDtalks website very shortly. This photo is the Rotorua Museum which is right next door to the convention centre. It is a beautiful building, and the flower gardens on the walk in to work in the mornings were just glorious!

Snow day for Dunedin

Today the arctic blast hit. We wondered for a while if it would stay, but it looks like we are snowed in for a few days. Luckily we have heating and we have a full pantry.

Lavender's blue dilly dilly

I love my nifty 50, so much fun playing with depth of field.

Daisies

I treated myself to a new 50mm prime lens which can give me a much smaller depth of field than the other lenses I have. So this is one of my play images as we get acquainted.

Standing out from the crowd

A nice walk in the botanical gardens.

St Clair Poles

I have been playing with depth of field. In this image I liked how the most distinguishing feature of St Clair Beach was sent out of focus, giving an indication of where the photo was taken in a dreamy like way. A bit like a hazy summer time memory

Christchurch flower gardens

My last shot from Christchurch was taken on the morning I was leaving. The flowers in the bright morning light were so vibrant. Loved my week at ULearn10.

Blossom in Christchurch

The blossoms were out and beautiful in Christchurch. The week was perfect, even though the ground kept shaking.

Blossom

I went for a drive out to Oamaru yesterday for the North Otago ICT conference. My presentation was on how to use video in the classroom. These striking blossoms caught my eye against the clear blue sky backdrop.

Texture

I loved the texture on this unusual tree trunk and thought it was accentuated by the fern in the background.

Rose garden

This chair is placed in the middle of the rose garden in the Dunedin Botanical Gardens. The chair is empty, as are the plants, all waiting for the cold to end and spring to come.

Birthday

I had another birthday. These flowers were a nice surprise.

Daffodils

The daffodils have begun to bloom here in London and Hyde Park is beautiful with carpets appearing each day.
