Speights Brewery

I went on the Speights Brewery tour tonight with @dragonsinger57, @annekenn, and @MsBeenz. This is the view from the overbridge.

Good morning Dunedin

So nice to see the sun in the mornings now. Golden light for a golden glow.

Ross Creek

Everything is so green and lush, but I'm longing for the sun.

Where else would you find a rabbit when it is snowing outside?

Snow day for Dunedin

Today the arctic blast hit. We wondered for a while if it would stay, but it looks like we are snowed in for a few days. Luckily we have heating and we have a full pantry.

Akaroa boats

My last early morning Akaroa shot. It is definitely one of my favourite places.

Another early morning snap from Akaroa.

Akaroa morning

I have just spent the most amazing three days with my whānau. Which is a strange way to say I have just been on a company retreat. But working for CORE Education is nothing like being in a 'company' in the business sense, but more like being part of a large insane family which is the most fun I've ever had. This photo is at Flea (?) bay just one bay down from Akaroa, as the day awoke.

Akaroa

I have been in Akaroa for the CORE retreat for the last three days. It is an absolutely beautiful place. I got up early to have a go at some long exposures.

Harbour chair

On Sunday I went for a walk around the harbour, there is now a nice walking track down past the new stadium and along the water. The weather was stunning (a bit cold though).

Up close and personal

I met this fellow the other day. Rather close quarters for a city girl.

They make them tough

Not even a sheet of ice was going to stop this jogger.

Scenes of the snow

Lots of snow, all around. It's still laying thickly on the ground. Today is the first birthday I have ever had surrounded by snow.

Crazy Australians

It snows in Dunedin, so of course the crazy Australians have to run out and play.

Looking for light

During my break in study today I went to the Dunedin Museum which is across the road from the university. I had been reading an article online about looking for light, so I made that my mission. Today I wasn't looking for a subject I was looking for interesting light, and this is the result.

Paris, the city of love

I have my computer set up to scroll through my photos as I work in the background. I had taken an expansive photo of the courtyard outside the Louvre and when it came on my screen I noticed that I had captured this couple in the city of love. So I had to edit the photo and crop it down to make them the focus.

To capture the moon

On my flight into Wellington this morning there was a glorious full moon.

View of a bridge

I've just spent two days in Auckland filming at Kelston Girls and working with my good friends at Christina's house. This is the amazing view from her house.

Defend Hillside workshops

A protest was held in Dunedin today about the job cuts happening at the Hillside workshops.
You can read something about it in this Otago Daily Times article.

Red chairs

Another shot from the University of Otago Library. I do like the clean repetition and bold colours.

Ross Creek Panorama

I decided to take a panorama of the reservoir which I walk around on a Sunday. I think next time I will watch the exposure as depending on where the sun was in the sky the exposure dropped as I turned. Might be time for me try this one out on manual.

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

We now have free wireless in the Octagon and it is common to see people sitting around with their laptops. I liked the contrast of the ages old church and the rugged up technology user.

Ross Creek

I went for a walk with a friend along this lovely track in the freezing cold.

Stairs of learning

During another break from study I snapped around the library.

Studying

It is really nice studying in the uni library on a Saturday during the semester holidays as there are no students around and I just about have the place to myself.

Through my window

While I am working away on my computer, I often gaze out the window to think. This is what I look at. I hope I never take it for granted.

Blackbird

Another snap through my window as I sit working.

Lavender's blue dilly dilly

I love my nifty 50, so much fun playing with depth of field.

University of Otago Library

I was working in the library on the weekend, and had my camera sitting next to me. Whenever I got frustrated or needed a break I swivelled in my chair and snapped away. People must have thought I was nuts.
